応援する覚悟
まずは，日本のプロ野球に関するとても大雑把な整理を。
いわゆる一軍・二軍選手（支配下登録選手）は，セパ両リーグ１２球団を合わせて最大８４０人（１球団７０人まで×１２球団）。そのうち一軍選手は，最大３３６人（１球団２８人まで×１２球団）だそうです。
無理矢理な比較ですが，一軍選手だけを見ると，４７都道府県にわずか７名ずつしかいないという計算。
プロ野球選手の中でも，一軍に定着して公式戦で活躍し続けることがいかに大変なことかがうかがえます。
また，毎年多くの選手が，戦力外通告による引退などによって新たな人生を歩み出すので，そもそも，プロ野球選手であり続けること自体も同様です。
さらに球団によっては，一軍・二軍選手以外の選手枠として，育成選手（背番号が３桁）が存在します。彼らは，「ファーム」と呼ばれる二軍の本拠地で，支配下登録を目指して研鑽を積んでいます。
そして，ファームの試合では，ホームチームのファンは，ときにビジターチームの選手にも交代の際などに惜しみない拍手を送ります。
そこは，球団という枠組みを超えて，将来のプロ野球を担う人材を応援する場所でもあるからです。
前置きが長くなりました。
この曲は，福岡ソフトバンクホークスの選手であった方への応援ソング。
現役時代に渡せなかった応援ソング。
まだ若い彼がユニホームを脱いで新たな道に進むことを知ったとき，お話さえしたことがない方を応援するとは何だろうかと考えこみました。
でも，彼の本質的な価値は，プロ野球選手のユニホームを着ているかどうかで左右されるものでありません。
むしろ人目を惹く立場から退き，第二新卒のように新天地で挑戦を続けているであろう今こそ，そのはなむけとして届けたいと思い至りました。
歌いだしの「あの高い空」とは，かつて福岡ソフトバンクホークスのファームであった福岡市にある「雁の巣球場」をモチーフとしています。
広大な空が見渡せるとても開放的なロケーションですが，かえってそういう場所に身を置くと，気持ちが大きくなる半面，人の存在のちっぽけさの感じ方もひとしおです。
物語は，夢の一軍戦の大舞台に立った投手の「僕」が，その初球を投げるまでのわずかな間に，長かったファーム時代の光景が駆け巡り，今とあの日々，そして支え続けた「キミ」の姿が行き交います。
ピアノアレンジは，野球少年を描いた映画の主題歌ならばというイメージのダイナミックな展開を感じる脱バラード。
これに可憐なアルパ（南米パラグアイのハープ）を添えていただきました。
